I read a good article last night about the last time the country was divided in a similar fashion, and they were referencing the time after the civil war and after Lincoln had been assassinated. They were paralleling the current administration and the Johnson administration where they were supporting the racist folks back then too. But eventually Johnson pissed off congress enough for them to act and impeach him. But I believe at that point he just rode out his term and was not voted back in in the following election. It was just interesting that there seemed to be so many parallels to the current situation and that we’ve been here before. Hopefully we can course correct sooner rather than later. This kind of shit has got to go. Hate for someone for nothing other than what they look like or what religion they practice is a bunch of crap. I’m not going to say there’s no reason to hate someone, but as I get older, there’s less and less reasons. Even someone who’s wronged you in some way.

We’re all human and trying to do the best for ourselves and families, but we go about it different ways.  No need to piss on somebody because they are doing life different from you.  It’s just that...  different.  Embrace it and learn something about your fellow man.

Here, here! I try to remind myself that my Mother lived through all the crazy cultural shifts of the 60's and came through it fine . She was in college with the national guard stationed around due to anti war and civil rights demonstrations . Dad was serving in Vietnam.

Thinking about that helps remind me that we are probably living through a significant change but not the end times.

And I’m totally with you. I refuse to hate people for being differe nt, I love differe nt. If I hate you it’s for the unique pile of shit you are and you have to be really terrible to qualify as that.
